Monkey fever may have killed man in Manipal

A 60-year-old man from Kargal in Sagar taluk, died of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as monkey fever, died in the wee hours of Friday at KMC hospital, Manipal, Udupi. The deceased has been identified as Pashwanath Jain.

Speaking to DH, District Health Officer Rajesh Suragihalli said it is said that the man had recovered from KFD earlier this year. He was admitted to KMC hospital again after he fell sick. He may have died of KFD. But the autopsy report is awaited.

It may be mentioned here that if the report confirms that he died of KFD, the death toll would rise to nine in the district in a gap of four months.
