Gundllupet (Chamarajanagar dist): In a freak incident, a man got trapped in a cage placed to capture a leopard at Padaguru village in the taluk on Thursday.

The man has been identified as Hanumaiah.

The Forest department had placed a cattle pen cage with calf bait to capture the leopard in a farm field following several complaints that the animal was attacking the livestock. It is said that Hanumaiah went inside the cage and the doors shut. He had to spend five to six hours in the cage.

A farmer, who noticed the man in the cage, immediately alerted the locals and the Forest Department. The forest personnel rushed to the spot and released him.
