Mangaluru: A team of police led by CEN ACP arrested a man accused of being involved in multi crore cheating cases and was absconding and out of reach of police for quite some time.
The arrested person has been identified as Roshan Saldana. Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the police were successful in locating him at his house in a secret chamber and took him to custody.
The main charges against the accused include promising loans in hundreds of crores of rupees and charging 1 to 2 per cent stamp duty and commission and duping the victims later. When the police raided the house, incriminating documents, cheques, a diamond ring worth Rs 4 crore and expensive jewellery and liquor worth more than Rs 6.5 lakh were also found in his house and the same has been seized.
The commissioner said an excise case is also registered against the accused for having quantity way beyond approved limits at his house.
During the investigation, it was found that over the period of past three to four months there were transactions worth more than 40 crore in the accounts of the arrested. All the past transactions are being verified as a part of the investigation.
Two FIRs were registered against the accused in Mangaluru city and one more in Chitradurga city in connection with cheating of people. It is learnt that the accused have cheated victims across the country including Delhi, Mumbai and other regions.
The commissioner said that the police investigation will reveal all the accused associated with him and roles of each and number of victims across the country and amount cheated.
