Gonikoppa (Kodagu district): A man died and another sustained injuries after wild elephant attacked them at Rudrabeedu village near Gonikoppal on Tuesday.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. The injured has been identified as Ajesh (40). He has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Range Forest Officer (RFO) Gangadharappa said that the elephant attacked Ajesh who was riding a bicycle. However he managed to escape with injuries. It latter attacked another man who was walking nearby and died on the spot. The deceased is aged about 45 years, he said.

The RFO said that three wild elephants were seen at the spot and an operation has been launched to drive them back to the forest.
