Man kills another for refusing sexual advances in Karnataka's Hubballi, arrested Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said both the accused and victim had met several times before the incident.

Hubballi: Keshwapur police have arrested a man for murdering another after he refused to have a sexual relationship with him.

The accused has been identified as Gouse Mohammed Nadaf (40), a resident of Devangpet. Gouse is a native of Lokur in Dharwad taluk, but settled in Hubballi. The police also recovered Rs 1,000 cash, and a two-wheeler that was used to commit the crime.

On December 22, Kumar Betageri (57) of Sonia Gandhi Nagar near Bidnal was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Indraprasta Layout on Sulla Road. He was running a shoe shop near the Railway Station.

Acting on the suspicious death, Keshwapur police went through the CCTV footages and collected several pieces of evidence to solve the case and finally identified the murder accused.

Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said both the accused and victim had met several times before the incident. On December 22, the accused Gouse took Kumar on his two-wheeler to Indraprasta Layout. But the victim Kumar refused to cooperate with the accused. This led to a fight between them and Gouse strangled Kumar to death, the official explained.
