Hanumanthappa Basappa Kambali
Udupi police on Monday arrested rape-murder accused Hanumanthappa Basappa Kambali, who had escaped from police custody while being escorted to Hiriyadka jail.
Kambali had been arrested in connection with the abduction, sexual assault and murder of a 17-year-old minor in Shivalli on March 9.
He had succeeded in giving a slip to police on Sunday while being escorted to Hiriyadka jail. Acting on a tip off by local residents that Hanumanthappa was having tea in a hotel in Hiriyadka, police succeeded in arresting him.
