"Mandya is a land of pure Kannada. People who speak other languages learn Kannada when they come here. Kannada is State language and Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana is celebrated once a year and this year in Mandya. So it is celebrated grandly," the Chief Minister said while speaking to presspersons before the inauguration for 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in Mandya.

'C T Ravi using derogatory word against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar is an offence'

CM Siddaramaiah termed BJP MLC C T Ravi allegedly using a derogatory word against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar as an "offence".

"Does BJP support using dereogatory words to a female minister? Who would accept allegation. Why was he arrested by Police? Any woman would not make false allegations and complain in such aspects,"Siddaramaiah said in response to a question about BJP staging a protest and Ravi denying allegations.

"I heard that it is truth and there is audio video in this regard, and Lakshmi Hebbalkar and others who were there have stated that they have heard it. It is an offence," he added.

"In his best interest he was taken to Karapur fearing that people in Belagavi  would create chaos if he was there itself," the CM said.
