Mandya: The Karnataka Sangha will soon start the state's first Moodalapaya Yakshagana training centre here.

Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, Karnataka Sangha president Prof Jayaprakash Gowda said Mysuru-based Dr Gangubai Hanagal University of Music and Performing Arts had granted recognition to the centre and a one-year diploma course will start from February 8. 

The duration is 10 months and the centre is being opened in association with Karnataka Moodalapaya Yakshagana Parishat. Those in the 18-40 age group and have passed SSLC are eligible. Classes will be held from 2 pm every Saturday to 2 pm on Sunday, he said.

Free food and accommodation will be provided during training. A certificate will be issued on completing the course. Call 94481 94456 for details.
