Mangalore runs for heartEat cautiously, exercise daily to ensure healthy heart, says expert

The walk organised by KMC Hospital was flagged off in KMC Bejai and ended up in KMC Hospital, Jyothi. This is the 6th consecutive year that KMC organised the Walk with the objective to bring awareness about heart care among the public.

District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar who inaugurated the walk asked people to run for a good and stable health. “Everyone irrespective of age and gender must take part in the walk so as to give out positive message on health to the society. With the advance in medical field, it is not an impossible task to control cardiac diseases, but then at the same time, one must not forget to take care of it,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Yogish Bhat made it a point to inform the public to change our lifestyles to check the heart disease.

With the increasing cases of heart diseases related deaths worldwide, it is necessary to educate people to follow strict diet and change their lifestyles which do not require much effort, he insisted.

KMC Cardiologist Dr Narasimha Pai gave few tips to the gathering in order to avoid heart related problems.

“To maintain a fit and fine heart, one must eat cautiously and take up daily exercises. Moreover, one must opt for regular heart check ups with their doctors so as to ensure the condition of heart,” he suggested.

On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. Vikas College of Physiotherapy won the award for Best Institution Participation and Best Placard, Hindustan Unilever won the Best Corporate Participation award, Coast Guard of India won first prize for Best Slogan Writing among others.

International Athlete Mary Hilda D’Souza lit torch and lead the walk. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad were present.
