Mangaluru: Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof P L Dharma has said that the university has printed and dispatched physical marks cards to all affiliated and constituent colleges under its jurisdiction.
Speaking at the academic council meeting held at Mangalore University, Prof Dharma said that earlier, as per the directions of the state government, the university had stopped issuing physical marks cards and was instead uploading them to the DigiLocker platform.
Students were required to download their marks cards from DigiLocker. However, many students faced difficulties while applying for admission to foreign universities, as digital versions were not always accepted.
Following a series of complaints from students, a meeting was convened in Bengaluru in the presence of Assembly Speaker U T Khader, the Higher Education Minister, and the Principal Secretary. Based on the discussions, Mangalore University was instructed to resume issuing physical marks cards.
The University had last issued physical marks cards for the 2022–23 batch. Now, physical marks cards have been issued for the first batch under the NEP 2023–24 curriculum.
The Vice Chancellor stated that the current marks cards are consolidated documents for the sixth semester undergraduate (UG) students, including cumulative details of previous semesters along with the CGPA.
Registrar (Evaluation) Dr H Devendrappa said that 13,570 marks cards have been issued to colleges for UG students. However, profile-related issues remain for approximately 5,000 marks cards. Additionally, 1,637 marks cards have already been issued to the respective postgraduate (PG) departments.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof P L Dharma also said that the results of the sixth semester UG programmes will be announced at the earliest. The evaluation of answer scripts is currently underway.
While UG examinations have been completed, PG examinations are expected to conclude by July 27. Admission notifications for PG programmes will be released two days prior to the announcement of the UG sixth semester results. Classes for both UG and PG programmes will commence in August.
