Chikkamagaluru: In a case where a quarrel over Rs 1,000 ended in murder, the District and Sessions Court has sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.

Manjunath (39), a resident of Lakkavalli Railway Camp in Tarikere taluk, has been convicted for the m the convicted for the murder of Venkatachalapathi at Ajjampura on July 27, 2021.

Manjunath and the deceased Venkatachalapathi were employed at a hotel in Ajjampura. When Manjunath demanded repayment of Rs 1,000 owed to him by Venkatachalapathi, an argument broke out between the two.

Later that night, while Venkatachalapathi was sleeping at the Rangamandira, he was beaten to death with a club. Ajjampura police had filed the chargesheet in the case.
