Siddaramaiah took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “By seizing 37 kg of MDMA worth over Rs 75 crore, police have averted a major threat to the lives of thousands of young people.

"From the very first day of our government’s tenure, we have been committed to creating a drug-free society. We have waged a relentless battle against drug sales and consumption.

"A few months ago, during my visit to Mangaluru, I had assured the people of the district that we would curb the drug menace and create a healthier environment. As part of this effort, a major drug network has now been unearthed. Our government's ultimate goal is to uproot the drug network that has spread across the state. We will continue this fight with unwavering determination to safeguard the future of our youth.”

District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has congratulated the Mangaluru City Police for seizing 37 kg of MDMA . He stated that the government is committed to take action against those involved in drug trafficking. Continuous efforts will be made to protect the youth and students from such substances, he added.

DK district Yuva Morcha President Nandan Mallya said “Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, more such network of drugs need to be unearthed. The BJP Yuva Morcha's vision is to make Dakshina Kannada a drug-free district. We express our special gratitude to the police.”

He said “The police have carried out an operation that seized a huge amount of drugs. Under the leadership of Commissioner of police, ACP Manoj Kumar and his team had been working tirelessly for six months to penetrate the drug network.

"The police have uncovered that MDMA were smoothly transported from Delhi Airport to Bengaluru Airport, with a weekly drug trade of around Rs 50 crore. Airport officials were also found to be involved in this operation,” Mallya alleged.

Dakshina Kannada, a culturally rich region with a remarkable educational hub, attracts thousands of students from all corners of the state to Mangaluru for their studies.

However, the entire coastal area was recently shocked by the rampant drug menace. The Yuva Morcha had previously submitted several requests to the police, demanding to make Dakshina Kannada a drug-free district, he added.
