Mangaluru: The police have launched a probe after an unidentified body of a man aged approximately 35 to 40 years, was found in a highly decomposed state in the basement of an under construction commercial building near the KSRTC bus stand in the Urwa Police Station limits in Mangaluru.
Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H said that the body was discovered by a worker who had gone to inspect a water supply issue in the building.
The basement was partially flooded, and the body was found floating in about three feet of water, showing signs of advanced decomposition.
Police, along with crime officers and the forensic team, visited the basement.
Based on the report filed, a case has been registered at Urwa Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 for murder.
Investigation is in progress to ascertain the identity of the deceased along with the cause and circumstances of death.
