Mangaluru: Under the guidance of former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and leadership of Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, the much-anticipated Mangaluru Street Food Fiesta Season-3 will be held from January 18 to 22, for five days with the support of Kudla Samskrithika Prathishtana and district administration, said honorary president Giridhar Shetty.
The street food festival will take place daily from 4 pm to 10 pm, starting from Karavali Utsav Grounds to Narayana Guru Circle, Mannagudda Gurji Circle, and Canara Urwa, he told mediapersons.
Initially, it was scheduled from January 15 to 19. However, due to the visit of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 17, the organisers decided to change the dates for security and other reasons at the request of the district administration. Preparations for the street food fiesta are in full swing, with over a hundred food stalls already registered online, and only a few stalls remaining. Interested parties are urged to register online for stalls.
The previous two editions of the Mangaluru Street Food Fiesta attracted lakhs of people and received immense public appreciation, marking great success. As a continuation, the countdown for Season-3 has begun, with excellent public response and anticipation. Like before, the festival will feature traditional Tulu Nadu cuisine, unique coastal dishes, and a variety of popular traditional food stalls offering South Indian, North Indian, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian options, including separate counters for vegetarians and non-vegetarians based on public demand, he said.
Further, he said various entertainment programmes will be held, with special emphasis on a children's play zone. Cultural programmes will be held simultaneously on multiple stages over the five days, including "our stage - your talent" for talented individuals, a selfie counter, and opportunities to celebrate birthdays and wedding anniversaries, among other entertainment and cultural activities.
He stated that special priority will be given to public safety and cleanliness during the festival. A systematic parking arrangement has been made to ensure no inconvenience to the public, with a request to avoid parking vehicles on the roadside, he added.
