BJP MLCs have decided to stage a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Vidhana Soudha on September 6, if the government failed to order a CBI probe into the findings of Anwar Manippady report on the encroachment of Wakf properties in the state.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary charged that Wakf Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan had made a U-turn over ordering a CBI probe into the report owing to the pressure from senior Congress leaders. Former chairman of Karnataka State Minority Commission Anwar Manippady had submitted the report to the government in March 2012, when the BJP was in power.

The report charged that Wakf properties to the tune of Rs two lakh crore had been encroached upon, and had named several state and national Congress leaders.
