Smooth ride on the road leading to Manjat colony in Ballamavati Gram panchayat is a dream.
The colony is situated eight kilometres away from Ballamavati on Napoklu-Bhagamandala main road.
The road has not seen asphaltation as it is made of rocky terrain. Even the residents find it difficult to walk on this rocky terrain.
Mini water falls are situated in between the stretch. Crossing them during the monsoon is a hard task.
The colony needs a good road. Ballamavati Gram Panchayat had laid a mud road last year.
The mini bridge enroute to the colony is in deplorable condition. If the bridge collapses following the rain, then there is no connectivity to the colony, said the residents.
The colony has not seen electricity connection. There are 16 families residing in the colony. Most of the residents are daily wage labourers and are eking out for living by preparing ‘Balanji,’ ‘Mora,’ ‘Goraga’ and ‘Kukke.’
“With the laying of a plantation, the villagers have lost a connecting road recently. The Gram Panchayat has decided to lay a walking path beside the plantation.”
Ballamavati PDO Veena Kumari said “The residents of Manjat colony are facing several problems. Barring a walking path, there is no road connecting the village. There is a need for a bridge across the stream. Connecting road is the need of the hour.”
GP President Kodiyanda Indira Harish said “one humanitarian ground, road should be laid. As the colony is surrounded by the forest, wild elephants menace is also on rise. All efforts will be made to provide a road connectivity to the colony.”
