Mass marriage in Madhugiri

A huge stage has been erected for a mass marriage ceremony organised by Taluk Congress Committee, Taluk Geleyara Balaga and KNR Abhimani Balaga at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in the town on Sunday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his ministerial colleagues and MLAs are expected to take part in the programme.

Seating arrangement has been made for more than 6,000 people. All arrangements have been made for the brides, bridegrooms and the guests.

Food, drinking water and buttermilk will be provided for all who are participating in the programme.

On the occasion, the chief minister will inaugurate the new Town Municipal Council building constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore.

He will also flag off ten 10 buses from Madhugiri depot. Thirty shops and stalls constructed in front of the Guru Bhavan will also be inaugurated.

Siddraddaramaiah will also distribute pump motors to farmers and benefits of various government schemes to beneficiaries.

Legislator K N Rajanna will preside over the programme.

Ministers T B Jayachandra, M R Seetharam, Eshwar Khandre, Tanveer Sait, MP S P Muddahanumegowda, Legislative Council deputy chairman N H Shivashankar Reddy, former minister Venkataravanappa, APCC president N Raghuveer Reddy, MLC G Thippeswamy, MLA Rafeeq Ahmed and State Youth Congress vice-president R Rajendra will take part.

The police department has made tight security arrangements. Four DySPs, 17 CPIs, 30 PSIs, 38 ASIs and 536 constables have been deputed for duty, DySP O B Kalleshappa said.
