Henceforth, if you have a civic grievance, help is just a call away, for free.

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), on Friday, launched a toll-free helpline to receive the grievances related to road, underground drainage, disposal of animal carcass, road repairs, and drinking water among other civic issues.

Mayor B L Bhyrappa launched the service by being the first caller to register a grievance. He complained over the pending garbage problem at Pourakarmika Colony in Ward 12, represented by him in the MCC.

Announcing this to media persons, here, MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmath said, the calls can be made to toll-free number 1800-200-5822. It is a pilot service that will be later regularised, depending on the people’s feedback.

Nolarity Communication, a private firm, will handle the service that has many specialities. No sooner a call is received, a recorded voice will welcome them, besides sending the complaint code through SMS to the caller’s cellphone.

Before that, the caller should provide his or her name, ward number, nature of complaint among others.

The complainants will also be intimated of the deadline to redress their grievances. The complaint will be later forwarded to nodal officers. If the officials fail to address the complaints within the stipulated time, the higher officials including the commissioner and respective corporator will be alerted with a message on their cellphones.

The service is the second after the 24-hour control room was opened at the MCC, a few years ago.

However, the calls to the control room number were charged.
