Udupi: The Manipal police arrested three persons and seized 13.7 grams of MDMA worth Rs 40,000 and 225 grams of ganja worth Rs 10,500.

The arrested are Mohammad Azharuddin alias Manchakal Azharuddin, a resident of Kaup; Rajesh Prakash Jadhav, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra; and Najeel alias Aashif, a resident of Malpe.

According to the police, when Inspector Mahesh Prasad of Manipal Police Station was at the station, he received information that some individuals in a lodge located in Dasharath Nagar in Badagabettu had with them syringes used for consuming substances.

Based on a tip-off, the police personnel conducted a raid and arrested the trio. The police also recovered 15 small plastic covers, five syringes, three plastic vials containing 5 ml sterile water, a keypad mobile phone worth Rs 500, and a touch screen mobile phone worth Rs 5,000.


A case was registered at the Manipal Police Station under the NDPS Act.
