Mangaluru: The Mangaluru city police are working on technical analysis in connection with the seizure of Rs 75 crore worth MDMA by arresting two South African nationals, on March 14 in Bengaluru.
The police had arrested Bamba Fanta alias Adonis Jabulile, and Abigail Adonis alias Olijo Evans, in connection with Karnataka’s biggest drug hauls.
The city police have completed the legal formalities in connection with the case by travelling to Delhi and Bengaluru as a part of the mahazar process, said Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal to DH.
He said that both arrested women have been remanded in judicial custody on Monday after they completed seven days in police custody. “The technological data analysis will help to get into the root of the case. Following the arrests, the entire network has become alert and expected to remain inactive for couple of months. The city police will continue in depth investigation. The airport footage has been collected and is being reviewed," he said.
The police team had visited the houses of the arrested and could not get anything in the house. The entire network worked in a systematic manner. The city police had taken five to six months to arrest the duo. It will take a few more months with a lot of ground work to get some concrete details in the case, he said.
Sources said that the team had visited a few blind spots in connection with the case. The two women also failed to cooperate with the police and provided scripted responses during the interrogation.
Sources also said that investigation agencies like Narcotics Control Bureau, Intelligence Bureau have sought details from the city police on the case.
Jammers in prison
To a query on installation of jammers at district prison in Mangaluru causing inconvenience to the residents and office-goers, the commissioner said that the higher authorities will take a call on what needs to be done.
Sources said as the district prison is situated in the heart of the city, the installation of jammers will be an issue for those residing nearby.
