The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested two persons involved in transportation and sale of MDMA. The police seized 23 grams of MDMA from their possession.
Acting on a tip off that the arrested had purchased MDMA from Mumbai and transported it via Kalaburagi, and were selling it to the public and students in Mangaluru city, the CCB police conducted a raid in Bangra Kuloor area under Kavoor Police Station limits.
The arrested are Sheikh Sikandar ( 22), from Kalaburagi, and Mohammed Taufeeq ( 29), from Kenjar in Mangaluru, said Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal.
The value of the seized MDMA is Rs 1.15 lakh. In addition, the police have also recovered two mobile phones, and a scooter. A case has been registered at the Kavoor Police Station.
The Commissioner said as per preliminary investigation, Sheikh Sikandar had purchased MDMA from Mumbai and transported it by bus from Kalaburagi to Mangaluru, where he sold it to Mohammed Taufeeq. The latter in turn was selling it to students and the general public in Mangaluru. Sikandar has a murder charges against him at Roja Police Station in Kalaburagi.
The drive was carried out under the guidance of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik and was led by Inspector Rafiq K M.
