Med seats: IMA seeks 85% quota for Kannada students

The Karnataka chapter of the Indian Medical Association has sought the state government to provide 85% reservation for Kannada students in admissions to medical courses through NEET.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the sole entrance examination for admission to medical courses this time. The state government had been authorised to conduct counselling for the admissions.

“Karnataka has more than 40 medical colleges, one of the highest in the country. Giving 85% reservation for Kannada students will ensure justice. Students here work hard to make it to our medical colleges. If there is no reservation, other students will have an upper hand,” said IMA president

Dr Rajashekhar S Bellary. He said that the IMA had written to the chief minister in this
regard.
