Melkote Vairamudi Utsava on March 17

The 10-day Vairamudi Utsava started with Garuda Dhwajarohana at Melkote in the district on Thursday.

The presiding deity Chaluvanarayana Swami would be adorned with the diamond-studded crown and would be taken out in a procession at 8 pm on March 17.

On March 19, Gajendra Moksha, Gaja and Ashwavahanotsava celebrations will be held. Maharathotsava and Bangarada Pallakki Utsava will be held on March 20.

Rajamudi Utsava will be held on March 21, when the idol would be adorned with the crown donated by Raja Wadiyar, the erstwhile king of Yadu dynasty of Mysuru, followed by Theppotsava.

The diamond-studded crown (Vairamudi) would be brought from the district treasury at 6.30 am on March 17. It would be offered puja at Lakshmi Janardhana Swami temple and later brought to Melkote in a procession under tight security.

With lakhs of people expected to visit the temple town for Vairamudi Utsava, the district administration has made all necessary arrangements.
