Ullal police found the woman in her twenties in a semi-conscious state with multiple injuries all over her body and shifted her to a hospital.

Based on woman's statement, the police registered a case under sections 70 (gang rape), 64 (punishment for rape), 126 (2), 140 (2), 352, 351(1), 115 (2), 309 (6) and 3 (5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Three suspects include Prabhuraj (38) an autorickshaw driver from Mulki, Mithun (37) a painter from Kotekar and Mainsh (30), a delivery boy from Padil have been detained for questioning, police sources added.

Ullal police informed that the woman hailing from Kooch in West Bengal was working in a plywood factory in Kerala.

She along with a male friend had travelled by train in order to find job in Mangaluru on Wednesday. She got in a row with her friend which culminated in her cell phone getting destroyed.

An autorickshaw driver came to her aid and offered to get the cellphone repaired at a mobile shop

The autorickshaw driver also offered her some food and agreed to drop her at the railway station.

The woman suspects that the food offered to her was mixed with intoxicants. When she regained her consciousness, the woman found herself inside a car with three men including the autorickshaw driver.

When the woman shouted for help, the men abandoned her on the road side and fled from the spot.

The victim suspects she was gangraped by the three men when she lost consciousness. She later approached a house and begging for water and collapsed at the doorstep.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal visited the spot on Thursday said the case was being dealt with utmost seriousness and priority. Multiple teams have been formed to ensure thorough investigation, he stressed.
