The process is on towards the formation of a separate federation for the processing and sale of mutton, said Animal Husbandry and Sericulture Minister A Manju.
Speaking to mediapersons after taking part in a programme organised at Kuvempu Kalamandira in Chikkamagaluru on Thursday, he said societies have already been formed towards the marketing of processed meat.
Responding to a query on the encroachment of Amrit Mahal Kaval land in the district, he said directions have been issued to the deputy commissioner to conduct a survey on the land. The government land will be protected by clearing the encroachment, the minister said.
Regarding the demand for a separate milk federation for the district, he said the move requires a great will power. As much as 75,000 litres of milk is being produced in the district.
The milk is also being transported to Hassan and Shivamogga. However, formation of a separate milk federation for the district is still under consideration, he said.
Answering a query on confusions on the president’s post in Hassan ZP, Manju said the chance should be given on rotation basis. Reservation should be provided for all categories. The aspirant is not able to tolerate the election of a ST candidate as the president of ZP. He is aware of the consequence if he does not attend the fourth meeting, he said.
Reacting to the protests by government employees, he said it is not a mistake to demand the rights. The government will surely look into their demands, he assured. The issues should be solved amicably, he said.
