Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said on Saturday that Agriculture Minister Umesh Katti had not sought statehood for North Karnataka region, and that his statement was misinterpreted.
The State government is striving for the development of Mumbai Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka regions.
People of North Karnataka region played a key role in the unification of Karnataka, therefore the question of a separate statehood for the region would not arise, Shettar said.
