DK Superintendent of Police Yathish N said that the police had received information on him and the team has gone to get him.

Sources said that he was traced in a mall in Udupi. He only called his family who in turn informed the police. Diganth went missing on February 25. He returned from college and told his family he was heading to Anjaneya Temple, but never returned.

When locals searched, his mobile phone and footwear were found on the railway track. There was suspicion that he might have been kidnapped by drug addicts. His parents had filed a complaint with the police about his disappearance, demanding his immediate trace.

Local residents shut down shops and businesses in Farangipete and staged a protest on March 1.

They accused the police department of not taking action to find him. The police had formed seven teams to investigate the case., Since Diganth had not been traced despite efforts, his parents had filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court.
