Tumakuru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Friday that the state government has decided to increase MLA funds from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore each to the Opposition legislators unlike the previous BJP government, which discriminated against the Congress lawmakers in providing grants.

The previous BJP government had sanctioned Rs 50 crore each to the party MLAs while giving only Rs 10 crore to Congress legislators. Our government has sanctioned grants to all constituencies. The funds will be released soon, he told reporters.

He asked the opposition parties and organisations not to greet the CM with black flags during his visit to the district on Tuesday.

Replying to a query on the proposed Swabhimana Samavesha, Parameshwara said, “The district had organised two preliminary meetings on the convention. But Madhugiri MLA K N Rajanna, who is also the Hassan district minister, insisted on holding the convention in Hassan. Hence, the venue was changed last minute. I don’t have any difference with CM Siddaramaiah,” he clarified.

Land for an integrated township at Vasanthanarasapura industrial area has been identified. It would soon be developed on the PPP model, he said.
