Congress MLA for Belgaum North Feroz Sait has quit as the chairman of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).

He was appointed KSTDC chairman in November 2016 but had taken charge barely a month ago.

Sources said that Sait had put in his papers during the recent by-elections to the Assembly from Gundlupet and Nanjangud. He has said that his continuation as KSTDC chief would hamper the development works taken up in his Assembly constituency. Sait, a second time-MLA, was aspiring for a berth in the Siddaramaiah ministry.

Belagavi City Congress Unit president Asif (Raju) Sait, who is also the brother of the MLA, said he was not aware whether the resignation has been accepted by the government.
He said there was a minister for tourism and a managing director for KSTDC and they had been carrying out the activities of the Tourism department. Moreover, there were no separate funds for the corporation.

“Sait did not want to burden the corporation and chose to quit,” he stated adding that it was not a pressure tactic to get a ministerial berth.
