Belagavi: MP Jagadish Shettar said that the audio of Congress MLA B R Patil, which has gone viral, has once again exposed the corruption in the Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Karnataka. Administration in the state has collapsed and Siddaramaiah should resign, Shettar also said.
Shettar told reporters at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha here on Saturday that the state government has been engrossed in corruption. MLA B R Patil’s audio, regarding selection of beneficiaries of the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme, shows corruption in crores, he alleged.
Earlier, MLA Basavaraj Rayareddy, too, had spoken about the corruption. Audio of Patil speaking with Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan’s personal assistant makes it known that beneficiaries who give money under the table get the houses.
People had complained to Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda during his visit to Tahsildar offices that those who pay said amounts get their work done. They also demanded installation of rate charts for works carried out by the ministry. The minister had confirmed the complaints and now a statement by Patil shows that corruption has been ruling and the chief minister has lost control of the administration, Shettar stated.
"Its good for Siddaramaiah to resign at the earliest," he expressed.
Regarding him meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said politics was not discussed. Tussles in the party have been resolved and few more will be settled soon, he added.
