Mangaluru: After the post-mortem of Suhas Shetty, his body was taken in a decked ambulance to his native place in Karinja, Bantwal taluk.
Suhash Shetty was a prime accused in the 2022 sensational murder case of Mohammed Fazil in Surathkal.
The ambulance was followed by Hindu workers in two-wheelers and cars. Even the police vehicles followed them. MLAs Uamanath Kotian, Harish Poonja, Rajesh Naik U, Sunil Kumar, RSS Leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, BJP district President Sathish Kumpala, former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and others visited the hospital.
A large number of Hindu organisation leaders had gathered outside the hospital. As the ambulance with the body of Suhas Shetty started moving, they started raising slogans of “Jai Bharath Matha ki,” "Jai Jai Bhajrangi…”
Additional police personnel have been deployed in various parts of the city and across the district.
Meanwhile, ADGP (Law and Order) R Hitendra told reporters that the family had informed the police about conducting the final rites in Bantwal.
“Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas. We are confident of arresting the accused at the earliest. We have received significant leads in the case. Strict action will be taken against those involved in the murder," he said.
