Bengaluru, DHNS: More than a dozen Congress office-bearers have written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking the government to nominate as MLCs persons who have actively toiled for Congress for 25-35 years.
“The party must identify those who have not had any opportunity (as MLCs, MLAs or ministers) and nominate such people as MLCs,” they said.
The party had shortlisted the names of Dalit activist D G Sagar, journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu, Congress’ communications chief Ramesh Babu and deputy chairman of Karnataka NRI Forum Arathi Krishna. Following opposition from Congress workers, the party is said to have put this list on hold.
