Mangaluru: A group of men barged into an unisex salon near KSRTC bus stand in Bejai and went berserk, damaging furniture, shattering glasses, assaulting and threatening women staff for ‘encouraging immoral practices’ on its premises on Thursday.
Sri Rama Sene leader Prasad Attavar, who claimed responsibility and justified the vandalism at unisex salon, was immediately arrested, along with 13 others, by City Crime Branch (CCB) police. At around 11.50 am, a group of 10 to 12 men barged into the salon in Aditya Complex accusing staff of engaging in immoral activities.
In a video clipping of the vandalism circulated on social media, a vandal is seen holding a condom and threatening a woman staff into revealing the immoral activities conducted at the massage parlour.
The group left within minutes after vandalising the salon and assaulting the employees. Prasad Attavar in an interview to a news channel justified the vandalism at massage parlour.
He said the drug mafia was thriving in the city. Drug abuse and other immoral activities are rampant in most of the massage parlours operating in corporation limits, he said.
Based on the complaint filed by the salon owner, Sudheer Shetty, a case was registered under Sections 329(2), 324(5), 74, 351(3), 115(2), 109, 352, and 190 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Barke police station.
