The Income Tax department will soon come out with a mobile app for the benefit of small taxpayers.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka and Goa region B R Balakrishnan said that the app would be made available in Karnataka and Goa I-T region by June.
The taxpayers will get to know of the tax deducted at source with the help of this app, he said.
Balakrishnan said that the I-T department seized cash totalling to Rs 32 crore in the state-wide raids in the run-up to Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka. “We also seized jewellery worth Rs 7 crore,” he added.
The officer said that the department had kept an eye on people making money through gambling. He warned of initiating action against people entering into benami transaction in respect of agricultural land.
