Mobile health clinics that will take doctors and medical facilities to the doorsteps of patients in remote corners of rural and tribal areas were launched on Wednesday.
An initiative of the Social Welfare department, these mobile clinics are equipped with Global Positioning System and medical testing devices.
The first of the 16 mobile clinics, each costing around Rs 50 lakh, was flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister
G Parameshwara and Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge.
Each clinic will have onboard a doctor, a nurse, a lab technician and a pharmacist. While basic consultation and medicines will be provided on the spot, patients who require further diagnosis will be referred to the nearest hospital, officials said.
