Mock accident drill at Bangalore station

A mock drill is conducted by the Railways annually to test employees.

Information was passed on to the railway staff at the City railway station around 5 pm that a collision had taken place between a passenger train and a roadroller at Chikabanavar (near Yeshwantpur).

The Accident Relief Medical Van (ARMV) (an emergency train) left for the spot within 20 minutes and a breakdown train van rushed from the City station.

All top railway personnel accompanied doctors and medical staff who went by the ARMV. On reaching the spot, the teams realised that it was just a mock drill.

When asked for his reaction, Divisional Railway Manager, Bangalore Division, Akhil Agrawal said the railway staff had given a good account of themselves.

“Both the vans left within the scheduled time. It shows that the Division is quite ready to tackle emergencies,” he said.

Last year, a mock drill was conducted at Byappanahalli station by informing staff that a goods train had derailed.
