Haveri: A 36-year-old grocer who had borrowed over Rs 15 lakh from various banks and finance companies ended his life by suicide, allegedly unable to bear harassment by his creditors.

The Bankapura police gave the name of deceased as Nagappa Puttappa Gunjala. The police said that his wife has lodged a complaint stating that Nagappa was finding it difficult to repay the loans.

The police said that Nagappa was not getting sufficient income from his grocery store and  hence he was finding it difficult to repay the loans. Fed up with his plight he hung himself to death in his house on Thursday noon. A relative of Nagappa said that a finance firm had taken away the bike of Nagappa recently after he failed to pay interest on the loan.
