BJP national general secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal on Wednesday claimed that a growing section of the public in Karnataka was feeling that the state was no longer being governed by the Congress party, but by the ideological influence of the Muslim League, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI).
“People on the ground are openly saying this is not Congress rule anymore. The government seems to be functioning according to the agenda of the Muslim League, SDPI and PFI,” Agarwal told a press conference here.
He observed that minority appeasement had reached the extremes and was fuelling public anger in the state.
“Wherever communal clashes are taking place, it is a direct outcome of the Congress’ appeasement of minority communities. The Hindu society is being repeatedly humiliated,” Agarwal said.
Citing examples, he alleged that large tracts of land were being handed over to the Waqf Board, Rs 150 crore was allocated for Muslim welfare and a 4% reservation was extended to Muslims.
Agarwal said the party might conduct election for the post of state BJP president in accordance with its internal rules once the official schedule was announced.
His statement comes amid growing speculation and concerns within the party’s state unit over the prolonged delay in appointing a full-time president.
The BJP leader said the voter list for the internal election was already prepared.“Elected district presidents will constitute the electoral college. If nominations are submitted and not withdrawn, voting will take place accordingly,” he said.
