A group of Mutt heads, on Monday, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding that the government forward to the Centre the expert panel report on granting separate faith status to Lingayats.
Prior to this, the state government should declare the community as a religious minority, the memorandum says.
The chief minister was here to lay launch works on a museum of international standards on Basaveshwara, to be set up at a cost of Rs 340 crore.
