It may be mentioned that Yathindra's recent statement comparing his father Siddaramaiah to Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar had drawn flak from several quarters.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, on Sunday, Yathindra said, “Nalwadi Wadiyar’s contributions to Mysuru and the state are immense. I have not said that our government’s contributions are more than his. But, after Independence, it was the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government that had given more grants to Mysuru. No other chief minister has given as much funds as my father. There is no point in seeking an apology”, he said.

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka demanded an apology from Yathindra for his statement. "If Siddaramaiah has given benefits, it is not from his own money,” Ashoka said
