The deceased woman has been identified as Renuka Yallappa Gutaguddi and and her son as Laxman, both resident of Maruti Nagar in Belagavi. Renuka, a native of Karaguppi village in Hukkeri taluk was married to Yallappa -a vegetable vendor who was residing in Belagavi. The couple was blessed with four children including a son and the eldest daughter died of a snake bite. Laxman was their youngest son. Renuka's husband has gone absconding from Wednesday morning. Police initially suspected that the woman had committed suicide along with her child, but the relatives of the deceased alleged that Yallappa had murdered them, as the kids head was found severed.
