Chikkamagaluru: BJP will not oppose the inauguration of Mysuru Dasara by writer Banu Mushtaq, if she accepts the culture of the land, MLC C T Ravi said.

"We consider water as Ganga and land as Mother Earth. This is National culture. Dasara is not a cultural event. It has a rich cultural legacy associated with Goddess Chamundeshwari, revered as the custodian of Karnataka," he said speaking to media people on Thursday.

He further opined that Banu's statement during a previous Jana Sahitya Sammelana on Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, vermillion, turmeric and Karnataka flag, is not acceptable and is not in accordance with the culture of the land.

She should express her regret over her statement and express her willingness to accept Karnataka's culture, before inaugurating Mysuru Dasara, he said.

Ravi, condemning Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's statement on Chamundi hills, said that the DCM's statement shows the heights of minority appeasement.

He meanwhile stated that Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala's reputation cannot be ruined with made up stories.

The Karnataka government succumbed to the tricks by 'Burude Gang' and formed the Special Investigation Team earlier. As the SIT cannot be relied upon, the current probe should be carried out under a retired Judge of the High Court or the Supreme Court. If it is not possible, the investigation should be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), he added.
