Mysuru: Mysuru district in-charge minister H C Mahadevappa said that amid the evolution of Science and Technology, in the digital era, it is important to use Kannada language and strive for its conservation and further growth too.
He was speaking during the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at Oval ground in Mysuru on Saturday.
He honoured 95 people who have served in different sectors. Minister Mahadevappa informed, "the State Government is taking all measures to ensure Kannada language doesn't lag behind in the modern era. So today in order to ensure usage of Kannada in digital technology be it in computer or mobile phone, we have unicode for texting in Kannada, translators, braille scripts. With this it is a positive development that Kannada is used widely in social media."
He expressed gratitude to all personalities and writers who have contributed for making Kannada prosperous, all those who have strived for unification of Karnataka and progress of State.
"In order to make their efforts fulfilling, we need to stay matured, united with all harmony and peace and strive for the development of the State and to conserve Kannada language, literature, our art, culture, water and land," Minister Mahadevappa said.
Prior to the event, he offered obeisance to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari at the temple at Palace premises. He even launched the procession of statue of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari at the North gate of Mysuru Palace.
Mysuru DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, ZP CEO S Yukesh Kumar, ADC P Shivaraju, DCPs Sundar Raju and Bindumani, Assistant director of Department of Kannada and Culture M D Sudarshan and others participated.
