Mysuru: With just a week left for Dasara to begin on September 22, the preparations are brisk in the city of palaces.
In view of stampede at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru recently, Mysuru District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa said that they had already come up with a comprehensive action plan to manage additional crowd during this year’s Dasara.
“Stampede at Chinnaswamy stadium occurred as there was not much prior preparation. Here we are well prepared in advance,” he added.
Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy said that they had reduced the number of seating arrangements from 60,000 last year to 48,000 this year on the premises of Mysuru Palace.
With the influence of social media, the district administration is expecting to receive at least 20% excess crowd this year compared to last year.
According to Deputy Conservator of Forest I B Prabhu Gowda, the number of people had doubled on Raja Marga to witness elephants during their training.
In order to manage the crowd, it has been decided to hold Yuva Dasara at Uttanahalli, on the outskirts of the city, for the second consecutive year.
Noted singers like Arjun Janya, Preetham, Zubaan, Devi Sri Prasad and Sunidhi Chauhan will perform from September 23 to 27. Arrangements have been made to accommodate more than a lakh people, said Mysuru SP Vishnuvardhana.
Drone show at Bannimantap grounds will be more attractive this year, as CESC plans to use 3,000 drones to come up with various formations. A total of 1,500 drones were used last year. It will be held on September 28, 29 and October 1 and 2 at the Bannimantap grounds.
