The victim has been identified as Rakshitha (20) of Gerasanahalli, Hunsur taluk. The accused Siddaraju of Bettadapura village, in Periyapatna taluk, is said to be her relative.

Officials said that Rakshitha was married to a Kerala-based person and had an extra-marital affair with Siddaraju. Siddaraju had taken her to a temple at Kappadi village on Saturday and then stayed at the lodge.

In a police complaint, lodged by the lodge manager, the woman was found dead on the bed, in a pool of blood. Siddaraju informed the police that she died of a mobile phone blast.

According to CPI Shashikumar, the woman was found dead, on the bed, when the police went to the lodge room. "Her mouth was heavily damaged. Electric wires have been found in the room. Prima facie, it looks like Siddaraju has murdered her by using electric wires and blasted the gelatin piece in her mouth. He later claimed that she died of a mobile phone blast. He has been arrested and the case is being investigated," he said.
