One person was killed and four other injured after a helium balloon related gas cylinder burst at the Jayamarthanda gate of Mysuru Palace around 8.30pm on Thursday evening.
The balloon seller died on spot and his identity is yet to be ascertained.
Begaluru based Lakshmi has suffered grievous injury and is critical. Nanjangud based Manjula, Kolkata based Shahina Shaber, Renebennur based Kotreshi also recieved injuries.
Mysuru city Police Commissioner Seema Latkar informed this.
The incident is said to have occurred when the balloon vendor was filling balloons with the cylinder.
The injured are shifted to K R Hospital for treatment.
Due to Christmas, flower show and cultural events hosted as part of winter fest, a large number of people had gathered at Palace premises. Large number of people had gathered at Dasara Exhibition premises which is close to this gate. The incident created panic moments among people.
City Police led by Commissioner Seema Latkar, DCP K S Sunder Raj rushed to spot along with special teams including FSL team, Anti Sabbotage check team, dog squad. They are in the process of getting all the details about the incident and the persons who are affected.
Nazarbard Police have registered the case and the investigation is on.
People were enjoying Vasuki Vybhav's music concert at Palace premises when the incident occurred near the gate.
Ranebennur based Kotresh, 34 who has suffered injury in his legs is the employee of KSRTC Haveri division. He had come to Mysuru on Thursday for vacation with his wife Priyanka and two kids.
The deceased is identified as Saleem (40), a Balloon vendor who filled helium gas to baloons and sold near Jayamarthanda gate of Mysuru Palace.
