Mysuru: With Christmas on Wednesday and the new year approaching, city bakers have come up with a variety of cake models and pastries.
A popular bakery, which has hosted a nine-day cake show for the 14th year at Gruha Shobhe expo on Maharaja's College ground, has come up with over 25 cake models. This time, they have come up with a huge model of Char Minar of Hyderabad, with a height and width of 8 feet each and weighing 850 kg.
"Six chefs have worked for nine days for the model," said bakery owner Mohammed Nizar.
Models of Barbie doll, Jinn or Genie of Arabian nights stories, Spiderman, cartoon characters like Dora, Square Pants of 'Spongebob-Squarepants' and others are attracting children. The show will end on December 29.
Another popular bakery has come up with a variety of pastries and cakes at a 11-day cake fest, which began on December 20 at the Nexus Centre City Mall. They have come up with varieties like Irish plum cake, Irish coffee chantilly, Irish plum cake, blueberry panna cotta lampone, le citron meringue, classic X'Mas stollen, babka (almond babka, brioche, pista crunch brioche), triple chocolate bavarian, and strawberry mousse verrine, said chef Jaishith Lal.
Their BBQ (barbeque fest), cookie fest, soup fest are also attracting people. They will host a pastry workshop by chef Vinay Aggarwal from 3 pm to 6 pm on December 27, said an executive of another bakery.
According to the MD of another popular bakery, N Ruthvik, they have come up with special rasmalai cakes and other varieties for the year-end.
