It was a moment of relief for the people, who received the valuables, which they had lost, worth a total of Rs 2.06 crore, recovered in 134 cases, on Thursday.
Even as 1,279 cases are registered by Mysuru district police led by SP N Vishnuvardhana, from July 2023 to January 2024, they have cracked 255 cases. Out of a total property of Rs 28.72 crore stolen/lost, they have recovered valuables worth Rs 3.96 crore.
As per the court orders, they handed over the valuables recovered in 134 cases, worth Rs 2.06 crore, to the rightful owners. They have recovered them in six cases of extortion and chain snatching, 25 house thefts, six cases of theft by servants, 67 vehicle thefts, 15 thefts, five cattle thefts, and four cheating cases. In these cases, they have recovered 2 kg, 439 gram and 600 miligram of gold, 4 kg 360 gram of silver in 35 cases; Rs 42.36 lakh cash in 18 cases; vehicles in 67 cases, including five cars, three autos, tippers, road rollers, two tractors and 62 motorbikes.
They have also recovered electrical and hardware things like laptops, tabs, hard disks, batteries, and motor pumps in eight cases; six domestic animals like six cows and three sheep in four cases. Also, from October 2024, so far, they have traced and recovered 90 mobile phones through CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal.

Total cases
Among the total of 1,279 cases registered, they have cracked all two cases registered under Section 302 IPC (murder for gain) and have recovered valuables worth Rs 4,240. Out of four cases of dacoity, registered under Section 395 and 398 of IPC, they have cracked three cases. In these cases, out of valuables worth Rs 47,20,000 lost, they have recovered valuables worth Rs 40,90,000. Among 36 cases of extortion, under Section 392 and 394 of IPC, they have cracked 19 cases. In those cases, out of valuables worth Rs 44,21,700 lost, they have recovered valuables worth Rs 11,85,670 and have returned valuables worth Rs 9,43,000 in six cases. In 29 chain-snatching cases, under Section 392 of IPC, they have traced 10 cases. Out of chains worth Rs 29,75,000 lost in those cases, they have recovered chains worth Rs 12,20,000 and have handed over chains worth Rs 8,89,200 in six cases.
In 398 cases of house theft, under Section 454, 457 and 380 of IPC, they have cracked 63 cases. In these cases, out of valuables worth Rs 8,25,16,141 lost, they have recovered valuables worth Rs 1,27,04,173 and have handed over valuables worth Rs 74,94,954 in 25 cases. There were cases of theft of 403 vehicles worth Rs 1,50,79,034, under Section 379 of IPC. They have traced 97 vehicles worth Rs 66,57,260 and have handed over 67 vehicles worth Rs 34,02,620. They have registered 286 other thefts, and have tracked 33 cases. Out of valuables worth Rs 3,68,99,415 lost, they recovered valuables worth Rs 54,05,312 and handed over valuables worth Rs 34,09,830 in 15 cases. In 31 cases of cattle theft, under 457 and 379 of IPC, they have tracked 11 cases. Out of cattle worth Rs 19,56,000 lost, they have recovered cattle worth Rs 5,85,000 and returned cattle worth Rs 2,84,500. There were 63 cheating cases, under Section 420, 406, 468 and 470 of IPC and have cracked eight cases. Out of Rs 12,53,24,108 lost, they have recovered Rs 57,92,483 and returned Rs 23,22,000 in four cases.
Kodi Narayanaswamy, a priest from Lakshidevi temple in Marigowdanahundi in Mysuru taluk, expressed happiness over getting, over 400-year-old metal idols.
