Despite the town consisting of 11 wards, what lacks in the town is, there are no name boards in the street roads.
There are as many as 24 residential layouts from Pravasi Mandir to Basti Matt. Though all these layouts are called by specific names, there are no name boards to confirm the names of the layouts and streets. The major streets including Hebbe road, Azad Galli, Camp Mohalla, Medara Beedi, Thyagaraj road, Bavi Hatti and others have not been given name boards by the Town Panchayat.
The lack of name boards is causing problem to the residents as most of the residents are aware of two or three main streets and are ignorant of the other streets. If this is the situation of the localites, then one can imagine the situation of an outsider who visits the town.
The Town Panchayat which has spent crores of rupees for the construction of roads in various layouts of the town has just neglected to spend few thousands for erecting name boards. The Town Panchayat members, who fight for every silly reason in the TMC meeting, have never raised their voice to urge the administration to erect name boards in the town streets.
When Deccan Herald, contacted the TMC Commissioner Shankarappa he said the survey work of streets has just got over and all the streets have been allotted with numbers. But so far no discussions have been held in the meeting about erecting name boards. We will look into the matter, he informed.
