Murthy, who launched the MEF, said, "The responsibility of all of us, including politicians, bureaucrats, corporate leaders, venture capitalists, is to look at the poorest child in the remotest village and ask, how can I make the life of that child better?"

“Not by giving him some free money. But, by creating more well-paying jobs,” he said. He was referring to some of the populist schemes of the governments in India.

Listing the priorities for the entrepreneurs, Murthy said to look for a global market. “Do not design the products or services only for India. In India, 80 crore people get free ration. It may not be smart to depend on one economy. Tomorrow if India does not do as well as it is doing today, you must be able to focus on another market,” Murthy said.

He was referring to free rice given to over 80 crore people, under the public distribution system to those who possess ration cards, across India, since the Covid-19 pandemic.
